First Day Schedules
We have linked the two first days schedule for your review.  Please let us know if you have any questions. You can email dpierson@wwsu.org over the weekend if you need help.

Quick Tips to help with the start of school;

  • Talk about school starting as a positive event – not a negative.
  • Start tailoring your schedule now so that it matches your school schedule.  Earlier bedtimes and earlier rise times.
  • Engage your child in discussion about the upcoming school year – what are they looking forward to, what are they concerned about?
  • Make sure your child knows emergency contact information.
  • Discuss your child’s school schedule.
  • If your child takes the bus, make sure your child knows what time the bus picks up and returns.
  • If you have any specific concerns regarding your child, contact the school and make your concerns known.  This could be the teacher, school nurse, school counselor, etc.
  • Start building up their confidence by revisiting topics that they were learning last year.
  • Encourage your child to work hard this school year by setting up a study schedule and quiet area for them to work in.
  • Have your child’s backpack and lunch prepared the night before to help the first day of school go as smoothly as possible.
  • Make sure you enjoy these last days of summer with family and friends!

Aug 29 Event - Public Voice in School Governance
How should the public be involved in school board decision-making? How do we make one community out of six towns? How can the school board find out what the community feels about any given topic — now and into the future?
The school board has recently hired consultants* to help answer these questions and more. Our first step is a one-hour kick-off conversation on August 29th in the Harwood Library at 6pm. Pizza and childcare will be provided.
The 6pm event is designated specifically for the consultants to hear from the public about their hopes, dreams, concerns, and expectations for community engagement with the school board. After a short break, the consultants will have a similar session with school board members. Public is welcome to stay to observe that session as well.
If you are a parent, taxpayer, business owner, grandparent, or resident in any of our 6 towns, your voice is important! Please come and share your thoughts and help us move forward as thoughtfully as we can.
