Update from Jen D in School Counseling

As we lean into our working/parenting lives and some days just trying to survive and "hold it together" during this challenging time, I thought I'd share some information I found helpful. Last week CASEL, a leader in social emotional learning (SEL) offered a webinar on student's social/emotional well-being and development during this time of learning from home. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: What big picture lessons could your child learn during this unique time?

Core areas of Social emotional learning:
Self-awareness
Self-management
Social-awareness
Relationship Skills
Responsible decision-making

Work in these areas are among the most important skills that students leave middle school with, and we can help support our kids in real time in these areas with a goal being learning, adapting and planning new strategies in your household on-going and as needs arise.

Here are some links that might be useful in supporting your kids and encouraging healthy skill development during this unique time to last a lifetime Casel SEL at home resources

Also if anyone is interested in the powerpoint from the webinar let me know. Take good care and reach out of course as needed. jdreimiller@huusd.org
